About the Book

For a lot of believers, Revelation is the book they skip. Too many beasts, too many bowls, too many numbers that never seem to add up. This study pushes back on that from the very first page, because Revelation itself makes an extraordinary promise: it is the only book in the Bible that opens with a blessing pronounced simply on the one who reads and hears it.

Navigating the Apocalypse is a verse-by-verse study. It walks through Revelation carefully, explaining what the words meant to their first readers, showing how the Old Testament stands behind almost every image, and drawing out what the text asks of us today. It follows the futurist approach, taking Revelation as genuine prophecy of what is still ahead, read literally rather than flatly, and it grounds that approach with Daniel's visions, the Olivet Discourse, and the rapture before the Revelation walkthrough even begins.

From the Book

A few lines, pulled chapter by chapter, from the foundations in Daniel through the final page of Revelation.

“Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it, because the time is near.”

Revelation 1:3 · Ch. 1, Introduction

“If you catch every seal, trumpet, and bowl in this book and miss Jesus, you have missed the book.”

Ch. 1, Introduction: How to Read Revelation

The glorified Christ among the lampstands
“John does not open with the future. He opens with a Person: the risen and glorified Christ, walking among His churches.”

Ch. 7, The Unveiling of Jesus Christ · Revelation 1

““Revelation” means an unveiling, taking the wraps off something previously hidden. God wrote this book to show us something, not to bury it.”

Ch. 7, The Unveiling of Jesus Christ · Revelation 1

The throne room of heaven
“Prophecy is not given so that fear can rule us. Revelation teaches us to begin with the throne and then look at the chaos from heaven’s perspective.”

Ch. 9, The Open Door and the Throne of Heaven · Revelation 4

“History is not unraveling at random. God’s plan moves toward a settled end.”

Ch. 10, The Scroll and the Lamb Who Was Slain · Revelation 5

The Lamb, slaughtered yet standing
“Only One is worthy to open it, and its opening sets the consummation of history in motion.”

Ch. 10, The Scroll and the Lamb Who Was Slain · Revelation 5

“They stand before God not because of natural courage, ancestry, or the ability to decode prophecy. They stand because God saves, keeps, and identifies them as His own.”

Ch. 12, Sealed Before the Storm · Revelation 7

The woman clothed with the sun
“The conflict visible on earth belongs to an older conflict between God and Satan.”

Ch. 17, The Woman, the Child, and the Dragon · Revelation 12

“So we will always be with the Lord. The heart of the promise is not escape for escape’s sake. It is permanent union with Jesus and reunion with His people.”

Ch. 4, The Rapture: What Jesus and Paul Actually Taught

“Readiness does not look like withdrawing from ordinary life. It looks like continuing to be faithful and prepared while ordinary life goes on around you, right up until the moment it does not.”

Ch. 6, The Olivet Discourse: Watching for the Son of Man

“The dream does not end with one human empire improving upon another. It ends with God replacing the whole succession of rebellious human rule with His own enduring kingdom.”

Ch. 2, Daniel’s Visions of the Kingdoms · Daniel 2

The rider on the white horse, Faithful and True
“Revelation spent eighteen chapters building toward a war. What it actually shows us is a coronation that was never seriously in doubt.”

Ch. 24, The Marriage of the Lamb and the Return of the King · Revelation 19

The new Jerusalem descending from heaven
“God’s dwelling is with humanity, and he will live with them. Heaven and earth are brought together, not humanity climbing upward to reach Him.”

Ch. 26, A New Heaven, a New Earth, and the City of God · Revelation 21

“Eden’s guarded, closed garden has become an open city. The cherubim no longer stand watch. The gates never close.”

Ch. 27, The River of Life and Christ’s Final Call · Revelation 22
